Trame Sonore 2026

2 June 2026

The 2026 edition of Trame Sonore unfolded across Mantua from 29 May to 2 June, with Extended Place artists appearing throughout the full programme.

Giovanni Gnocchi and Tai Murray opened Saturday with a Beethoven programme at the Rotonda di San Lorenzo, joined by Jennifer Stumm. That evening Gnocchi returned to Piazza Santa Barbara for Gulda's Cello Concerto with Pietro Mianiti and the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova. On Sunday evening he gave two consecutive open-air concerts — Da Mozart a Morricone volumes I and II — with I Violoncelli del Mozarteum, and on Tuesday appeared with Marco Rizzi and Andrea Lucchesini in a Schubert programme at the Teatro Bibiena.

The Loveliest Hours — the duo EP by Gemma Bertagnolli and Alessandro Stella — was presented on Sunday afternoon in the gardens of Palazzo Castiglioni by the two artists alongside critic Alberto Mattioli. The duo also performed Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf that afternoon at Palazzo Te, and returned on Tuesday with Schumann at the Palazzo Vescovile.

Beyond his duo programme with Gemma Bertagnolli, Alessandro Stella joined Tai Murray for Pärt and Ravel at the Galleria degli Specchi in Palazzo Ducale, and appeared with Giovanni Gnocchi in a concert celebrating Britten, also at the Palazzo Vescovile.

Nurit Stark — a member of the String Trio Eszká — gave two concerts with the trio: Schubert and Kurtág at the Rotonda di San Lorenzo, and Mozart at the Teatro Bibiena. She also appeared in duo with Aoife Ní Bhriain for a programme of Rózsa and Ligeti at the Galleria Corraini.

Simona Severini presented two programmes with the Fedra Ensemble: War and love at the Sala dei Fiumi in Palazzo Ducale on Monday evening, and Monteverdi Reloaded at the Fruttiere di Palazzo Te on Tuesday.

Quartetto Indaco's Monday stretched from afternoon to midnight: Masquerade at the Museo Virgilio, Beethoven at the Ristorante Il Cigno with Giovanni Bietti, and a late-night Brahms at the Rotonda di San Lorenzo joined by Tommaso Lonquich.
